About Time for Peace

Time for Peace
Dear friends, welcome to Time for Peace site where you can find bhajans, kirtans and other spiritual and relaxation music. The music was composed and played mostly by Swami Madhuram and other Yoga in Daily Life disciples.
Swami Madhuram Puri has been studying and teaching Yoga and Meditation under the guidance of H.H. Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda,
the author of the system Yoga in Daily Life for the past 9 years. His interest in what is called “Nada Yoga”, the yoga path of sound, has seen Madhuram use his musical skills playing bansuri (Indian bamboo flute) and chants for his own spiritual practice as well as sharing it with others. He has also organized concerts and chanting workshops around the UK, in Europe and India.
MUSIC & HEALTH
We believe that music can change people’s minds for the better. Relaxation and meditative music can create and convey healing vibrations that benefit the listener, regardless of how able-bodied they are. Meditative music acts as a medium to help focus the listener’s mind and gradually helps return the mind to its natural, peaceful state. This calm state of mind is an ideal space to let go of the many obstacles that prevent us from feeling happy, content and fulfilled. For those who suffer from pain, such a peaceful state of mind creates an opportunity to alleviate suffering, helping the sufferer to become ‘a witness of the pain’ rather than ‘the one who is pain’. This can apply to physical and psychological pain as well as the fear of mortality.
NADA YOGA MEDITATION (meditation with mantra)
During this meditation on sound, our mind is guided away from aimless wandering and is given focus to aid concentration. Once we can find the quiet mind, it is possible to hear the inner sounds that lie beneath, behind, and within all sounds. Mantra is, therefore, concerned with the power of sound to transform our inner self.
WHAT IS RAGA AND INDIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC
Indian classical music has been long acclaimed to have calming effects on the body, mind and soul for a good reason. Ragas of Indian classical music are found to positively stimulate the brain, relieve tension and alleviate fatigue when listened to regularly. The effects of Indian classical ragas may take a little time but carry no ill side effects. The reason for this gradual healing is that music therapy does not only treat symptoms but it strengthens the nerves system enough to accept and deal with disease. The ancient science of Ayurveda believes that most health problems occur due to weak mind and willpower. Therefore music is regarded as “medicine with no side effects”.
